BCY Primary
We aim to collaborate with local churches to form links with primary schools in and around Bury St. Edmunds to offer…
Lunchtime/after school clubs - We run lunch and after school clubs in primary schools. Our clubs welcome children from all faiths or none and include outdoor activities, crafts, games, stories from the Bible and a safe space to discuss big questions and explore faith. Our most popular clubs in primary schools are Go Wild! and Rock Solid.
Please contact us if you feel your school would benefit from something different.
Lessons - Our team is made up of experienced schools workers and qualified teachers, who are able to offer lessons exploring the Bible and the Christian faith in creative, engaging ways. We can speak about our own experience of faith to provide a ‘real world’ dimension to the children’s RE learning.
We are also able to offer 5 week blocks of Walk Through the Bible lessons, which gives children an overview of the Old Testament. This covers many of the objectives from the year 5 and 6 section of the Emmanuel Project scheme of learning for RE.
Prayer Space - Prayer Spaces enable children and young people to explore big life questions, spirituality and faith in a safe, inclusive, creative and interactive environment. They take place over several days in a school or nearby church.
Children are encouraged to explore various prayer stations independently. Examples of stations include forgiveness, praying for the world and reflecting on our emotions.
Contact us to discuss how we can adapt Prayer Space for your specific context.
Collective Worship - We lead collective worship regularly in a number of schools in and around Bury St. Edmunds. Either exploring Christian values or telling stories from the Bible, our assemblies are interactive, energetic and can sometimes get a bit messy!
Please contact us if you would like us to lead collective worship for a specific Christian festival, such as Christmas or Easter.
Support with primary to secondary school transition - We are able to offer support for your year 6 children moving into secondary school, using ‘It’s Your Move’, a resource provided by Scripture Union. We can deliver lessons and workshops to help relieve some of the anxieties and issues that come up as a result of this stressful time in the children’s lives, in addition to providing the ‘It’s Your Move’ books from Scripture Union, either provided by ourselves or a local church.
