“ Prayspace @ King Edward VI Upper, day 4 ”

Copious tweets of pictures from the Prayspace room later...

...and it's the end of day 4, which has seen 4 sessions and visits from Trish Milne (Head of RE, Howard Middle) and Kelly Baker (Vineyard Church).

We had 2 classes of year 9s - one RE, one Citizenship - and unfortunately we had some duplications in students. So some students got to come in twice in the same morning! Still, they all still seemed to enjoy their time in the room.

Joined today by Josh Goddard (Great Barton Church), Emma Malcolm and Ian Foreman (West Road Church), we had a class of two halves followed by a busy lunch time and then a small, behaviourally challenged lower ability group. A real mixture!

A full day of lessons, with Dan working with me in the morning and our good friends John and Janet Runnacles volunteering in the afternoon. They're a couple with decades of praying behind them, and it's always a wonderful privilege to have them involved.

All in all this felt like a very 'usual' Prayspace day - classes coming and going, a few students filtering through at break and lunch, It was even the 'usual' feedback - the space is calming, peaceful, helps students to think, certain activities were useful in helping students think through issues they are facing...

Great set up day on Friday and all the creases ironed out for year 12 Philosophy and Ethics students first thing on a Monday morning! They responded brilliantly, although quietly, to the room. One of the comments in the book was words to the effect of 'praying was great, even though I'm an atheist'... hmmm...! We had a flurry of lunch-time visitors who knew me from middle schools and a number who hung out with us a lot last year.

Just a baby post to round off the week!

It's been great - and the girl who couldn't forgive on Monday, forgave on Friday. Praise God!

The forgiveness activity has been very powerful for a number of students this week - we will be working on some new prayer stations soon and I think making them similarly tactile is a good way forward as it sems to resonate really well.

Personally it has been draining and I'm glad it's now half term - but I love these weeks and can't wait for the next one!
