What we do

What does BCY actually do, then?

Assemblies & Lessons

We are happy to fit in with a school’s thoughts for the week, seasons of the Christian calendar or pick up on a recent news event and challenge students to ask, ‘what does this mean for me?’ Our assemblies always include Christian content – a Bible verse, personal experiences, prayer, a Christian perspective on an issue.

Lessons will always be tailored to fit a school’s requirements within their provision of PSHE / RE / Ethics. In the last year we have taken lessons on Marriage and the family, What makes someone a Christian?, ‘Suffering proves there is no God’,Religious Experience and Wealth and Poverty.

If you are interested in us taking an assembly or lesson, please contact the office.

Rock Solid
Nicola oversees the Rock Solid lunch clubs in 6 Middle Schools and one Upper School in Bury, attended by between 7 and 27 students, depending on which school you choose and which week you go! They are a fun mix of games, Bible stories, craft activities, discussion and learning about Jesus.

Nicola couldn't do this exciting work without the help of local church partners who run the clubs alongside her. It's the kind of co-operation between schools / churches / BCY that we love!

If a club is run at your school, then you will always be welcome…
Check out the calendar pages for more details.

Prayspace

...is our schools prayer space project. For a week we take over a space in school and fill it with exciting, intriguing, interactive and beautiful creative prayer activities. Covering themes of Worry, Bereavement, Thankfulness and Forgiveness (to name just a few), these quiet, still spaces are loved by students and staff alike. For more on the national scene (for which Matt is a Network Member), visit the Prayer Spaces in Schools website. For a bit more on what we do, visit Matt's blog. To discuss booking a Prayspace week for your school, contact the office.

The future...?

It's also worth saying that we are always open to getting involved in new ways with schools - suggest something to us! You never know, it might just work...
